Top table for Reuters at White House correspondents' dinner

Reuters hosted President Barack Obama on Saturday at the White House Correspondents' dinner, an annual event that mixes US journalism with Washington politics and Hollywood celebrity.

Reuters correspondent Caren Bohan is the White House Correspondents' Association president for 2011-2012, a post that entails acting as host of the dinner for 2,000 US media people, political figures and show business celebrities at Washington’s Hilton Hotel.

Proceeds from the dinner go towards scholarships and awards aimed at supporting aspiring journalists and recognising excellence in the profession.

Other Reuters people who have headed the association are Ralph Harris (1979-1980), Laurence McQuillan (1997-1998), and Steve Holland (2001-2002).
