Bobbing along with the Dinosaurs

A small (but obviously elite) group of Reuters Dinosaurs met for an extremely pleasant lunch aboard the good ship La Nouvelle Seine bobbing alongside a Parisian river quay under the steeples of Notre Dame cathedral on Friday, Bernard Edinger writes.

Present were (left to right in the photo): Iain Smith, Kate Dourian, Bernard Edinger, Paul Taylor, Nick Parsons, Nelson Graves, Alan Riding, Meg Bortin and Phil Wardle.

Iain came from Portugal, Nick from southern France and Phil from London. All the others are Parisians including Kate Dourian who recently settled in the French capital having arrived from the Gulf. She now works for the International Energy Agency.

Most are still active, not necessarily in journalism (Meg and Alan are published authors). Paul is the last remaining active Reuterian.

As Alan remarked afterwards: “It was fun and pretty tasty too. A la prochaine!”

Our next lunch should be in February. ■
