Angela Dean resigns after 15 years as chair of the Pension Review Group; Ed Nelson takes over
Sunday 28 September 2025
Angela Dean has stepped down as chair of the Pension Review Group (PRG) after 15 years and will be replaced by Ed Nelson, who worked for Reuters for 28 years in various roles.
“I have decided after a good deal of deliberation that with a changing of the guard, now is an appropriate time for me to resign from PRG. I have really enjoyed chairing the group and working with you all, particularly when our campaigning has been at its most active,” Angela wrote in a message to PRG members.
She was at the helm during repeated campaigns to ensure that cost of living increases continued on pre-1997 RPF and SPS pensions. Her colleagues responded in a farewell message: “We have benefited from Angela’s tireless leadership as she has led this group through several active campaigns.”
Peter Fanning, former pensions manager and a PRG member since its foundation in the early 2000s wrote to Angela: “Thank you for your dedication, which has never wavered and for the huge part you have played in pursuance of our cause and for the hours you have devoted.“
Dean will be replaced by Ed Nelson. He will be assisted by two deputies, Krishna Biltoo and Charlie Richardson.
After 28 years with the company, Nelson left Thomson Reuters in 2011 as Global Head of Business Operations of the Foreign Exchange and Money Markets division.
He had joined Reuters in 1983 as an accountant in Reuters Europe Finance and during his time with the company had a diverse range of responsibilities at a UK, European and global level. These included finance, marketing, training, commercial strategy and operational management.
After leaving Thomson Reuters, Ed spent seven years working for Redscan Cyber Security.
In other news from the PRG, it announced that two administration errors recently affected some RPF members. These errors related to verification letters issued by Isio, and, separately, the incorrect payment of pensions to a small number of recently retired members. The Pension Review Group’s summary of these errors and its suggestions for impacted members can be viewed on the PRG website here.
The Pension Review Group, which is completely independent of the trustees and the company, was established in 2004 to represent the interest of Reuters and Thomson Reuters pensioners. Details of its activities concerning pensions for widows and partners and other issues can be found on the group's website at http://reuterspensioners.org.uk
