Finance veteran quits Thomson Reuters

Thomson Reuters' markets division chief financial officer David Turner is leaving the company after 21 years, first with Reuters, then Thomson and finally the merged business. He will become a partner and chief financial officer of audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG.

Chief executive James Smith, announcing Turner’s departure, said in a statement to staff last week: “Many of you know David from the multiple roles he served in and the impact he made on the company will benefit us all for many years to come. David has been a close colleague throughout his time in the company and I have enjoyed our relationship and his friendship over more than 10 years.”

Smith said that in 2007 when Thomson’s intention to acquire Reuters was announced Turner worked with David Craig, now president of the financial and risk business, to plan and execute integration of the two companies and in his subsequent role as markets CFO led many integration activities. Before the acquisition, he was senior vice president, Thomson Corporation. Prior to joining Thomson headquarters Turner was chief financial officer of Thomson Financial from 2001 to 2005 after serving in many CFO roles in Reuters from 1991 to 2001, first with UK and Ireland operations, then Reuters Information division, Reuters America, and in 2000 Reuterspace. His resignation is effective 16 July. ■
