Over-enthusiastic?

Impressed as I was by Brian Mooney's description of the state-of-the-art Derbyshire sandstone, Peruvian Bronze louvres, and Canadian timber ceiling in Michael Bloomberg's new European HQ in London, I couldn't help thinking of the Carrara marble, splendid works of art, and specially-woven carpets that proved the undoing of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's president Jacques Attali in 1993. Nothing exceeds like excess, perhaps. ■
