Reuters between the covers

I wonder how often other Baron readers come across references to Reuters when immersed in a novel or interesting non-fiction.

In the novel The Snow Goose by Sebastian Faulks a Reuters correspondent called Thompson gets a walk-on part in 1914 France as he joins forces with the protagonist to expose corruption in the French government.

This prompted me to quickly peruse some other books gathering dust on my shelves.

Former MP Chris Mullin in his diaries A View from the Foothills recalls being interviewed by Reuters in September 2004.

Journalist Nick Cohen in his book about censorship You Can't Read This Book recalls that Chrystia Freeland, "a business journalist who works for Reuters, provided an archive of attitudes when she published interviews with the super-rich".

Journalist Lindsey Hilsum in her book In Extremis - The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin writes that unconfirmed news about Colvin's death was confirmed when her then partner, looking at his computer, announced "Jesus, it's on Reuters”. ■
