Nick Tattersall appointed Executive Editor - Galloni
Thursday 28 May 2026
Nick Tattersall, Global Managing Editor, Newsroom, has been promoted to Executive Editor following the decision by Simon Robinson to leave the company for a new role in Australia, Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni said in a message to staff.
Tattersall, who joined the company in 2000, will take up his new position on August 20, said Galloni. Robinson will be heading back to his native Australia to join the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) as Director of News and Current Affairs.
"Nick and I, in consultation with other senior leaders, will define the scope of his new role and how it will evolve over the next few weeks, and we will keep you all updated, Galloni said.
Tattersall, based in London, has had a long career with Reuters, reporting and running bureaux around the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region as well as serving as Managing Editor, News, EMEA, and Head of the Global News Desk.
The editor-in-chief paid tribute to the outgoing Robinson and wished him well in his new role.
"Simon has been a transformational editor since he joined Reuters, helping modernise our newsroom over the years by strengthening our investigative and enterprise reporting, rethinking the way the newsroom is managed, and sharpening our digital presence," she said.
"Throughout, he has made sure we stay true to the things that have always mattered at Reuters: accuracy, speed, depth, trust."
