Thomson Reuters awarded grant to expand in Michigan

Thomson Reuters plans to add at least 300 employees to its operations in Michigan over the next five years.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation awarded the company a $2.4 million performance-based grant to help support local job creation.

Thomas Reuters employs about 1,100 workers at its local operations, mostly in the tax and accounting business. The company plans to invest $19.9 million and add at least 300 jobs over the next five years in its expansion, according to a news release.

The release said Thomson Reuters has outgrown its current facilities in the Ann Arbor area (photo) and plans to expand operations with new offices in Pittsfield Township.

“We have an exceptional workforce and deep roots in the community, so we’re pleased and proud to continue growing in the Ann Arbor area,” Jon Baron, managing director of the company’s professional segment, said. “The economic development support from the state is an important factor in our decision.” ■
