Jack Hartzman

We were saddened at the Ryerson School of Journalism to hear of the death of our distinguished alumnus, Jack Hartzman. Jack graduated in the days of hot metal and sticky ink, when students learned the craft from the shop floor outward. Many from those early years went on to storied careers, but none more so than Jack. His outstanding record at Reuters makes us all very proud – as do our polytechnic roots, reflected in the motto so generously cited by Nicholas Moore in his eulogy. We extend our deepest sympathy to Jack’s wife, Vickie Barrett, and to everyone who was fortunate enough to know Jack as editor, colleague and friend. ■
