New suits, new ethos

Apart from one year working in the old Reuters News Library I have no connection with the Editorial side. However, after 32 years with Reuters I saw enough to realise that Reuter journalists worked to long-established principles. It seems that nowadays top editorial management gets changed every few months. A new man takes over, looks around for a bit and then publishes a “new” reporting ethos. What was good enough for Ranald McLurkin or George Short no longer suits the “new suits” in Reuters Editorial. ■
