Mary Norsworthy, founder of the Baron's Bash

Mary Norsworthy, wife of the late Rick Norsworthy and founder of the Baron’s Bash, died today in London after a long illness. She was 85.

Mary started the Bash, an annual lunch for Reuters editorial pensioners and their partners, more than 10 years ago. She set up the event because the company had stopped holding its yearly reunion in London for retired staff members.

The Bash normally takes place every spring at Dulwich and Sydenham Golf Club in London. This year’s lunch has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mary, a professional singer, married Rick soon after he arrived in London from the United States in 1963 to work for Reuters. He died late last year.
