Ian MacKenzie, valued colleague and friend

Mac was an accomplished correspondent who reported from a variety of troublespots. I got to know him well when he anchored our highly successful coverage of South Africa during Mandela’s journey from prison to presidency. He was a key member of our team, bringing his vast and varied experience to bear on a complex and competitive story. He was a valued colleague and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. ■
