Fishing with Douglas

So sad to hear that dear Douglas has left us for the great newsroom in the sky.

While several have written of his editorial skills, I remember him for his fly fishing prowess. Back in the late 80s/early 90s, a group of us (Andy Hill and Don Howell spring to mind) formed the Reuters Game Fishing Association (RGFA). It had not escaped our notice that the Reuters Golf Association received a company subsidy, so we thought we'd have a slice of that too. Douglas participated in many RGFA expeditions, including to the River Blackwater in southwest Ireland. He was great company, could be very funny, and sometimes we even caught a few fish.
