TRI up nearly 2% in a week

Shares of Thomson Reuters traded on the New York Stock Exchange (photo) rose by 1.91 per cent in the past week and 4.61 per cent over the last four weeks, outperforming the S&P 500.

Heightened volatility was seen in the stock on Friday, which led to swings in the price, Insider Trading Report said. The shares opened for trading at $39.91 and hit $40.64 on the upside, eventually ending the session at $40.63 - a gain of 0.79 per cent or 0.32 points.

The heightened volatility saw the trading volume jump to 745,095 shares. The 52-week range of the share price is $34.88 to $42.64. The shares have rallied 9.46 per cent in the past 52 weeks.

Company insiders - largely the family of chairman David Thomson - own 55.03 per cent of the shares. Institutional Investors own 38.1 per cent. ■
