WSJ named USA's most influential business news outlet, Reuters 6th

The Wall Street Journal remains the most influential financial news organisation in the United States according to a survey in which Reuters dropped one place to sixth position.

The Journal was nominated as the most influential news organisation by 85.4 per cent of 422 financial journalists who responded to the survey.

Bloomberg remained second with 57.8 per cent, while The New York Times was third, with 29.3 per cent. The Financial Times was in fourth position, CNBC fifth, and Reuters sixth.

The survey was conducted by two DePaul University professors in March and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

“The rankings of the most influential publications remain quite stable with The Wall Street Journal still clearly the most influential media outlet in the US,” said Jeni Chapman, managing director of media information organisation Gorkana US which released the results. “Bloomberg is by far the next most influential financial outlet, underscoring the dominant position it has carved out in the industry.” ■
