Obituary: Fred Prouser

Photographer Fred Prouser (photo), best known for covering more than 3,000 red carpet events in Hollywood over 22 years with Reuters, died at his home in Marina del Rey, California, on Tuesday. He was 63.
Prouser became a familiar face to many celebrities on the runway, even if they didn’t know his name. After finishing his last awards season in 2014, he took a leave of absence when he was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer.
“It’s been quite a ride,” he told The Baron when he stepped down a year ago.
Prouser had worked for UPI and the Associated Press in Pennsylvania. In 1992 he moved to Los Angeles with his late wife and business partner, Rose. They both worked for Reuters. She died in 2013 of brain cancer. ■
