Obituary: Ray Rumble

Ray Rumble, a former telegraphist who became special traffic manager during 35 years with Reuters in London, died on 7 January after a fall at a nursing home in England where he and his wife Elsie lived. He was 81.

Rumble joined Reuters as a telegraphist in February 1953 after military service with the Royal Signals and employment with Cable & Wireless. 

In 1964 he was appointed assistant traffic superintendent, reporting to Sid Rice. Later he became assistant manager, special services (1975), special services manager (1980) and special traffic manager, Europe/RE-Marketing (1981). He retired on 31 December 1988.
