RPF launches website for members

Reuters Pension Fund launched a website on Monday to provide more timely information to its more than 7,800 members than is possible with the Fund's twice-yearly printed Update newsletter.

The new site contains information about RPF and the pensions industry in general but, in order to preserve confidentiality, nothing specific about individual members’ benefits. That information continues to be available on the site of the Fund’s administrators, Capita, which requires login and password arrangements.

These have been a barrier to usage, said RPF Trustee board chairman Greg Meekings, pictured. “We therefore took a policy decision for this website to be open and very simple to access. We hope this will encourage our Members to visit more often. Because it is open we are more constrained in what we can publish; for example, confidential information will remain available only through the printed Update and/or our section with Capita’s website.”

RPF is one of the oldest UK-based pension funds, having been founded in 1893. The majority of its members – some 70 per cent – are deferred, i.e. those who no longer contribute to the fund and have yet to begin drawing their pension. ■
