Saigon evacuation photographer dies
Monday 6 October 2008
Hugh Van Es, the renowned Dutch photographer who took the "helicopter" photo of the evacuation of Saigon, died on 15 May.
Hugh was a friend to many of the Reuters journalists who passed through Hong Kong and frequented the FCC over the years. A wake was held for him at the FCC in May. But for those who couldn't make it and would like to honour his memory, former FCC VP and Hon Sec Penny Byrne and her husband Tim Heald are organising a VANES INTERNATIONAL WAKE at the Frontline Club in London, the nearest thing to the FCC in the UK.
