Working with Penny Watson

Anyone who worked on or near the seventh floor in the mid-to-late seventies will be shocked and saddened to hear of Penny Watson's early death. She, along with her great friend the late Liz Hornung, contributed hugely not only to the business (then, arguably at its most exciting) but also to the exhilaration of working there. It had aspects of the Roman imperial court: defenestrations, intrigue, etc, etc. Penny, working for Mike Nelson, was a legend for efficiency and steely calm, probably never making a mistake. ■
