George Vine: Impeccable news judgment and superb writing style

George Vine joined Reuters in Bonn after a distinguished career there as correspondent of the (London) Daily Mail. he immediately became the in-house expert on German political and historical developments, especially the post-war period that he himself had witnessed, such as the decisive reign of internationally respected chancellor Dr Konrad Adenauer. When Reuters launched its German-language news service at the end of 1971, George was regularly consulted by younger new recruits for essential background information.
