Reading that Thomson Reuters is looking for a new London base, it is hard not reflect on the brand new Bloomberg European headquarters that is rising on the site of the old Roman Temple of Mithras in the heart of the City of London, just a stone’s throw from Mansion House, the Bank of England and the Royal Exchange, where Paul Julius Reuter founded his news service in 1851. Most days I walk past the new Bloomberg building, situated on what is now called Bloomberg Place, and I was on the Planning Committee which approved it. To the victor, the spoils? ■
