This is very sad news. Tributes in his obit and elsewhere help paint the portrait.
 
Barry was always cordial, engaged and engaging. He never failed to meet up on my visits to London — for an art gallery highlight, Chinese food or a pint.
 
His creation and stewardship of The Baron showed only a portion of his devotion to friends, colleagues and Reuters.
