Reuters' nuclear news expert Fredrik Dahl joins IAEA

Fredrik Dahl (photo), a specialist correspondent in Vienna who has covered mainly nuclear-related issues for the past four years, has left Reuters to join the International Atomic Energy Agency as spokesman and head of its media and public outreach section.

He joined Reuters in Stockholm 1987 to help launch a Swedish-language financial news service.

“My first performance review said I had made a good start but needed to polish my English if I wanted to embark on an international career with the company,” Dahl said in a farewell message to colleagues.

“Nearly three decades later, I may still be guilty of the occasional linguistic oddity. But I got the journalistic journey I wanted: after Stockholm, there were postings in Helsinki, Brussels, Sarajevo, Belgrade, London, Tehran, Dubai and Vienna. Reinforcement stints took me to Baghdad, Nairobi, Tunis and other places.

“Along the way I had the privilege of working with - and learning from - some hugely talented people and memorable personalities, and also picked up a journalist of the year award. So thank you, Reuters!” ■
