Baron's Bash 2024

The Baron's Bash 2024 was not only a little smaller but also broke the mould by including speeches and breaking news. Yet all in a very good cause – tributes to its slightly younger but equally revered sister, The Baron.

Marcus Ferrar led warm and warmly applauded plaudits for Barry May, who conceived, set up and edited the website and announced that Barry Moody was taking over the helm as May steps back to deal with health problems. https://www.thebaron.info/news/article/2024/03/21/barry-moody-is-the-new-editor-of-the-baron

Tribute was also paid to Lesley Saltmarsh, who took over organising the Bash from founder Mary Norsworthy and who has now passed the baton to Tony Winning and Jeremy Toye.(See photo)

The Bash itself was judged one of the best in years in a Putin-style straw poll, thanks not only to the 48 Bashers who were there but also to the exceptional food and drink supplied by the Dulwich Golf Club's Karen Pomfret and her super-friendly staff.

Numbers were down by about a dozen on previous years, but largely because ever-active Reuter pensioners still had other things to do. Next year's date is likely to be Monday 24 March, so please avoid all other events on that day.

The Bash makes a modest contribution to The Baron each year, so please consider giving it a further boost under its shiny new editor.
