Allan Barker really was the Sarge

I will always remember the Sarge with great affection and as a great journo. I learned a lot from him, for which I'll always be grateful.

I remember him dressing down some arrogant Reuters trainee by telling them their copy wasn't even good enough to wrap fish and chips in. He really was the Sarge. His toughness was for your own good. ■
