Three stand in pension fund trustee election

Three candidates are contesting this month's election for a member-nominated trustee of the Reuters Supplementary Pension Scheme (SPS), smaller of the two Reuters final salary pension funds in the UK.

Tony Winning, a former correspondent and editor, is seeking a second five-year term as one of the two member-elected directors of the SPS. The other candidates are Jeremy Penn and Geoffrey Sanderson, both former senior managers in the company.

Penn worked for Reuters for 20 years and rose to become managing director Asia before leaving the company. He is now head of the Baltic Exchange. Sanderson also had a 20-year career with Reuters and his last position was managing director Reuters Securities Transactions Systems. He is also a member-nominated trustee of the Reuters Pension Fund (RPF).

Winning had a 32-year career with Reuters, rising to editor Asia. He is a former chairman of the Pension Review Group (PRG), which provides a forum for RPF and SPS members to monitor the two UK defined benefit funds.

Voting in the election closes on 30 April and the result will be announced shortly thereafter. ■
