Dave Betts - a real leader in somewhat fraught times

Really sad to read about Dave's demise. I worked with him in Beirut in the 1980s. He was a real leader in somewhat fraught times. Never one to respect the foibles of senior management, he felt people were more important than profit. A great sense of humour and sometimes mischief and a terrific mentor. I admired him greatly and am pleased we always kept in touch. I shall miss his e-mails and friendship. ■
