The Paris Dinosaurs include people who worked for Reuters in Paris or who now live in France but the group is open to any former Reuterian who likes French food.
The venue for the group’s occasional lunches is the Free French club, 59 rue Vergniaud between Place d'Italie and Denfert-Rochereau in the 13th arrondissement. The Club de la France Libre, as it is called in French, is a private club à l'anglaise for that now fast dwindling band of veterans of General de Gaulle's wartime volunteers in Britain and elsewhere (plus a few younger sympathisers and history buffs).
Among giant photos on the walls of the club’s restaurant is a picture of de Gaulle together with Winston Churchill so cross-Channel visitors will feel at home.
The restaurant serves really good food (serious stuff à la Lyonnaise, no nouvelle cuisine that leaves you hungry) at around 35 euros maximum per head with all the wine you can drink.
Anyone interested in joining the event should contact the group’s rapporteur ● Bernard Edinger.
